There are certain dental problems that need to be handled immediately. When this occurs, Dr. Barkhordar’s emergency dental procedures provide the rapid emergency care you need – exactly when you need it.
When is emergency dental work necessary?
There are a wide range of issues that require an emergency visit to our Carson office. They include:
Damage to your existing dental work
When a filling or crown falls off, it can expose the root of the tooth and cause you to experience intense pain. A situation like this requires an immediate visit to our office to repair the damage and stop the pain.
Your tooth may become damaged or cracked, or it may be knocked out completely due to eating hard foods, falling down or sustaining a sports or motor vehicle injury. When this occurs, you need immediate medical attention from Dr. Barkhordar. If you receive rapid care, there’s a chance that your tooth can be restored and replaced in your mouth. However, this can be achieved only if you are seen right away, so time is of the essence.
If you are experiencing severe gum pain, you should be seen by a dental professional right away. Intense gum pain can have multiple causes, including advanced gum disease and an item stuck in your gum line – two situations that require immediate care.
Severe tooth pain can be caused by a number of serious problems, including undiagnosed cavities or an exposed root due to a cracked, chipped or broken tooth. In all of these cases, the pain can prevent you from sleeping, working and speaking properly until it’s addressed. As such, if you’re having tooth pain that’s interfering with your daily life, it’s considered an emergency situation that should be handled immediately.
How to handle a dental emergency
The actions you take during your dental emergency can have a huge impact on the outcome, so it’s important to know how to behave in these situations. For example, if your tooth is knocked out, you’ll want to hold the tooth by its crown and use clean water to rinse the root if its dirty. However, do not scrub the tooth or remove any tissue. From there, store the tooth in a cup of milk or place it back in the socket until you can be seen by Dr. Barkhordar. If your tooth is chipped or broken, you’ll want to rinse your mouth out with water and apply a cold compress to control any swelling.
In some cases, you won’t see anything visibly wrong with your tooth, but you’ll be experiencing severe pain. In this case, you can achieve some relief by rinsing your mouth out with warm water and gently flossing the area to dislodge any trapped food. And finally, if you’re suffering from a jaw injury, you’ll need to visit Dr. Barkhordar or the emergency room as soon as possible. On your way, it’s a good idea to apply a cold compress to minimize swelling.
Financing for Emergency Dental Procedures
Financing a medical emergency is quite often an emergency in itself. As such, Dr. Omid’s office accepts emergency dental financing through CareCredit™. CareCredit is a healthcare credit card that is designed for medical treatment purposes and is often used in medical emergencies. Its approval process usually only takes minutes. When you come in for emergency help, our office staff will assist in the application process if needed.
Do you need emergency dental work?
If you’re not sure if you’re suffering from one of the above problems, but you’re in considerable pain, call our office. Dr. Barkhordar and our team will listen to your symptoms and help you determine if you’re truly in the middle of a dental emergency, or if you can wait for treatment. If you’re not in an emergency situation, we will provide you with guidance on how you can experience some symptom relief in the meantime.
