The field of orthodontics aims to straighten crooked teeth and correct issues with your jaw. In this way, an advanced orthodontic treatment can create a healthy and beautiful smile that enhances your appearance and boosts your self-esteem.
Do you need an orthodontic treatment?
You may benefit from an orthodontic treatment if your teeth are misaligned, crowded and/or crooked, or if there are considerable gaps in between each tooth. Additionally, if your jaws protrude and/or don’t close properly, or you experience clicking and pain in that area, an orthodontic treatment can resolve those issues as well.
With that said, the only way to know for sure if you’ll benefit from an orthodontic treatment is to visit our Carson office so Dr. Barkhordar and his team can evaluate your teeth and provide you with personalized guidance.
How we straighten your teeth
The field of orthodontics is constantly evolving to provide patients with the quickest and most discreet way to achieve a straighter and more beautiful smile. At Care Dental Center, we offer both traditional braces and more innovative treatments, ensuring all of our Carson patients have access to the right option for them.
A tried-and-true way to straighten your teeth, metal braces are what most people envision when they think of orthodontics. They’re the most affordable option, and are comprised of steel brackets that are bonded to the front of each tooth. The brackets are connected to each other with special wires and elastic rings, which come in a variety of vibrant colors.
Porcelain braces are a more discreet option when compared to traditional metal braces. They’re tooth-colored, so they blend in with the rest of your teeth and are much less noticeable to the eye. The primary disadvantages of this option is that porcelain braces are more expensive and they stain more easily.
Damon braces offer an extremely gentle way to straighten your teeth. They’re self-ligated and use a slide mechanism to connect the wires, instead of elastic rings. The teeth move on their own without the need for routine adjustments, so you can look forward to rapid results. And, because there’s less friction and pressure involved, the treatment is considerably less painful when compared to traditional metal braces.
Invisalign offers the most discreet way to straighten your teeth. The treatment involves wearing a series of custom trays that are virtually invisible and gradually shift your teeth into place. Every two weeks you’ll wear a new tray, which will move your teeth one step closer to their ideal position.
Which option is right for me?
The right teeth straightening option for you will depend on a variety of factors – including your budget, unique needs and the extent of your treatment. For example, if cost is your primary concern, traditional metal braces will likely be in your best interest because they’re the most affordable. Conversely, if you’re most concerned about straightening your teeth as discreetly as possible, you’ll probably be better off with porcelain braces or Invisalign. During your initial consultation with Dr. Barkhordar, he can review the advantages and disadvantages of each treatment with you, and help you determine which one is right for you.
